USA Ultimate's 2011 Club Championships are over! Congratulations to the winners:
Masters: Surly (Minneapolis, MN)
Mixed [Co-Ed]: Blackbird (San Francisco, CA)
Open [Men]: Revolver (San Francisco, CA)
Women: Fury (San Francisco, CA)
Of note:
- Three (3) #1 seeds won their division - Women, Open, Masters
- Of all qualifying teams, nine (9) teams were from California (15%); Massachusetts (5, 8.33%); Pennsylvania (4, 6.67%) - see map above
- Three (3) teams from the Northwest Region won their division - Women, Open, Mixed; Masters champion was from Minnesota (Central)
- Three (3) teams from California won their division - Women, Open, Mixed
- Three (3) teams from the San Fran area won their division - Women, Open, Mixed
Everyone has been talking about how San Fran did so well and kudos to them - I wanted to see how each region did overall. NW really does dominate - in the four divisions: 9 Teams from the NW finished in the top 5 (9/20), South was bad is mixed (shouldn't have gotten 3 bids in my opinion) but did well in Open. NW and NE dominated mixed finishing top 6. For the SW and Central - other than reaching the finals in Masters, neither region finished above 7th and Mid-Atlantic was across the board.
