Ultimate Field Google Search
Sergey Brin (co-founder of Google) Wanted To Build An Ultimate Frisbee Field Atop Google NYC Offices
...However, fellow cofounder Sergey Brin does have some affinity for Google New York.
One former Googler tells us, "Sergey and [wife] Ann love NY, and actually make it a destination. For a while, Sergey was determined to build an ultimate field (he's an enthusiastic player) on the roof of one of our buildings."
Obviously the ultimate frisbee field hasn't happened yet, but you never know. Google owns one of the biggest buildings in all of New York now - location of their largest advertising sales team.

Plastic Love
Are plastics good or bad? An author explains [berklyside]
When Susan Freinkel decided to write a book about plastic, she vowed to spend an entire day not touching the stuff. The plan lasted about ten seconds. After she woke up, she walked into the bathroom to use the toilet. She suddenly realized the seat was plastic, which meant she couldn’t sit down. Freinkel quickly changed plans. Instead of not touching plastic for a day, she would write down all the plastic things she touched in a day. The list came to 195 objects.
In Plastic: A Toxic Love Story, Frienkel uses 8 plastic objects – the comb, the chair, the Frisbee, the IV bag, the Bic lighter, the grocery bag, the soda bottle, and the credit card – to explain the incredible popularity of the material, its benefits, and its downsides. It’s an important, yet entertaining, look at the issue.

'Wicket' Fun
Bendercup
How to Play: When the offensive team strikes a section of the opposing team’s pole(s) with the disc, the offensive team is awarded the point value of the colored section hit, if the disc is not caught by the defensive team. If the offensive team hits both poles within one throw, the points scored on each individual pole are added together, again only if the disc is not caught by the defensive team.
If the disc strikes one pole and the cup (highly engineered wiffle bally cone) is knocked off, the defensive team must try to catch the cup and the disc before both hit the ground. The offensive team is awarded double the point value of the colored section that was struck, if both the cup and disc hit the ground.

The Frisbie Pie Company was founded in 1871 by William Russell Frisbie in Bridgeport, Connecticut, when he bought and renamed a branch of the Olds Baking Company. The company was located on Kossuth Street in Bridgeport's East Side (between late 1800s and 1958), where nearby school kids tossed the plates around and yelled "Frisbie" so they wouldn't get hit by the spinning tins. The game the children played made its way to nearby college campuses (i.e., Yale).
