The AUDL Podcast returned today with Evan Lepler previewing the 2016 AUDL season, which starts tomorrow - not today.


Evan who is the lead broadcaster for AUDL's ESPN3 games and scribes weekly league roundups gives what is the quote of the AUDL season (so far). Evan: "I’ve got an awesome life. I’m not complaining at all."

Heckling in Ultimate

Today (April Fool's Day) is as good a day as any to point out that "good-natured heckling" is within the Official Rules of Ultimate (11th Edition):

Number 3 under "Ten Things You Should Know About Spirit of the Game" reads:
Heckling and taunting are different.
Ultimate has a long tradition of good-natured heckling. Heckles are friendly barbs, typically
from non-playing spectators. Heckling can be fun, but taunting is unspirited and wrong.
Harassing remarks after an opponent's foul call or close play are NOT heckling: they are
abusive taunts which create unpleasant playing conditions and often escalate to acrimonious
disputes.

WFDF's "Spirit of the Game" differs from USA Ultimate's version.

Was AUDL Supposed to Start Today?

On February 1, 2016, the American Ultimate Disc League tweeted the following:

Two months from the first of February would be...today (April 1st). Instead, the AUDL 2016 season starts on April 2nd.

It's probably for the best that a burgeoning professional league for a niche sport doesn't start on April Fools' Day. Otherwise, it would have given comedians plenty of fodder — like in 2012.
