DC Scandal Seeded #1 at International Ultimate Tournament

Washington, DC's elite women's ultimate team, Scandal, is seeded #1 IN THE WORLD at the 2014 World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC). The multi-day, international WUCC tournament is hosted from August 2 - 9 in Lecco, Italy.

Scandal is ranked at the top as a result of winning the 2013 USA Ultimate Championship in October 2013. Since then, Mayor Gray proclaimed it "SCANDAL WOMEN'S ULTIMATE FRISBEE TEAM DAY" and the D.C. Council has passed a resolution recognizing the achievement by this DC sports team.

August 8
Scandal were down 5-9 and eventually lost by 2 to Riot, 11-13, in the WUCC semifinals.

In the bronze medal game (3rd place), Scandal won 17-10 over Showdown.

August 7
On Thursday, Scandal went undefeated in Pool J with a 13-7 win over Iceni. Scandal advanced with an overall (6-0) record to the 8-team playoffs as the #1 seed.

In their quarters matchup, Scandal won 17-6  over MedellĂ­n Revolution (Colombia). Scandal faces Seattle Riot (USA) in the semifinals on Friday.

August 6
On Wednesday in Pool J, DC Scandal won 11-10 over Texas Showdown, and won again 15-7 over Cosmic Girls.

August 5
On Tuesday, Scandal won 15-2 victories over YAKA (France), and then Catarinas (Mexico).

Scandal posts a +37 goal difference - the best in the Women's Division, after 3 games.

8 = least goals allowed by Scandal, least amount in the Women's Division after first-round pools.

Scandal is the only women's ultimate team to post single digits in goal allowance (after 3 games).

With a (3-0) record, Scandal wins Pool A and advances to Power Pool J. On Wednesday, Scandal is scheduled to play Showdown (Texas; 2-1), and then Cosmic Girls (Russia; 2-1). Iceni (Great Britain; 3-0) rounds out the other team in the pool.

August 4
On Monday, Scandal won 15-4 over Fusion (Canada).

August 3
Sunday's games were cancelled due to weather.
